Mini bio

How it started.

Bobbi studied theatrical makeup and photography at Emerson College before working as a makeup artist in New York. Natural tones became a signature at a time when brighter, heavier looks were common.

The breakthrough.

In 1991, ten wearable lipstick shades debuted at Bergdorf Goodman as Bobbi Brown Essentials. Estée Lauder bought the company in 1995; Bobbi stayed on as its creative chief before leaving in 2016.

Starting again.

Jones Road arrived in 2020. In the brand’s own story, Bobbi describes wanting versatile products for a working makeup kit, with simple application and options for different ages, skin types, and skin tones.

More than makeup.

Books and conversations are part of the work, too. Alongside instructional books such as Makeup Manual, Bobbi teaches a MasterClass, hosts the I Am Me interview series, and tells the story of building two beauty businesses in the memoir Still Bobbi.
