Mini bio
How it started.
Carla was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She began singing at a fourth-grade talent show at age nine, then sang in church choirs and Harvard’s Radcliffe Choral Society. After studying economics at Harvard and earning her MBA, she joined Morgan Stanley in 1987.
Sharing the pearls.
Her Wall Street experience became the foundation for Carla’s Pearls. She promised herself that, once she reached senior management, she would share the practical advice she had wanted along the way. Expect to Win brought those lessons into book form in 2009, followed by Strategize to Win in 2014 and Lead to Win in 2022.
A life in music, too.
Her first album, Carla’s First Christmas, arrived in 2000 and was featured in Dan Rather’s American Dream segment on CBS Evening News. She went on to release Joy Is Waiting, Unceasing Praise and O This Is Christmas!, and perform sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall and the Apollo Theatre.
