Mini bio

How it started.

Before the books and podcasts, Chris was running a business that left little time for life outside work. In his own account, burnout at the end of 2009 prompted a year-long plan to step back from daily operations. In 2010 he started blogging about becoming a Virtual CEO and launched Virtual Staff Finder after listening to his online audience.

Finding an audience.

Blogging, podcasting and video helped turn Chris’s experience into a public teaching career. He says the growing personal brand brought podcast interviews, consulting clients and speaking invitations. Virtual Freedom followed in 2014, sharing practical approaches to hiring and working with virtual staff.

The Youpreneur years.

Chris launched Youpreneur in 2015 as an education business for people building companies around their expertise and reputation. His 2018 book Rise of the Youpreneur put that approach into print, exploring how experience and personality can become the foundation of a business.

Making room for life.

The Long-Haul Leader, published in 2025, brings his focus to building a career without burning out. Its themes include meaningful work, relationships, personal wellbeing and hobbies. Chris explores those ideas in a podcast of the same name, while My Birding Life, launched in June 2026, gives his love of birds its own space.
