Mini bio
How it started.
Farneti grew up around journalism: in a podcast interview, they recalled childhood visits to the Panorama newsroom where family members worked. They studied law while training in television and print journalism, beginning with sport before moving into fashion.
Making magazines.
After starting in television, Farneti joined the team launching Italian GQ in 1999. They later directed Flair and conceived Icon, returning to Condé Nast in 2014 to lead AD before taking charge of GQ. In January 2017, they were appointed editor of Vogue Italia and L’Uomo Vogue after Franca Sozzani’s death.

Their Vogue Italia years ran from 2017 to 2021. Looking back for the magazine’s 60th anniversary, Farneti singled out Lauren Hutton’s October 2017 cover, the illustrated January 2020 issue that reduced the need for fashion shoots, and the blank white cover published during the pandemic in April 2020.
A growing world at Repubblica.
At Repubblica, their work now spans fashion, interiors and lifestyle. Door launched in April 2023, and GEDI’s October 2025 announcement confirmed Farneti’s leadership of d, Door and U as Repubblica Velvet joined the group. The new d website had arrived that May, bringing the magazine’s visual identity and an archive of its work online.
