Mini bio

How it started.

Jason started Engineering Explained in 2011 while studying mechanical engineering. He hoped the channel would help him find automotive work. After two years engineering forklifts, he left that job in 2014 to make YouTube his full-time work.

A whiteboard and a growing audience.

His whiteboard became the channel’s signature teaching tool. Reaching one million subscribers in 2016 marked a turning point. He says talking with automotive engineers and bringing their knowledge to viewers remains the biggest highlight.

From diagrams to the open road.

The channel pairs explanations of engines and transmissions with reviews and ownership stories. In 2026, his Bosch-sponsored Route 66 series used a road trip to explore a century of automotive innovation.
