Mini bio

How it started.

High school friends Kev Nish, Prohgress and J-Splif began making music in downtown Los Angeles, with DJ Virman joining later. Their early recordings included Audio-Bio and Folk Music. “Round Round” reached a wider audience through The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in 2006.

The breakthrough.

“Like a G6” made them the first Asian-American group to top the Billboard Hot 100 in 2010. Free Wired also introduced “Rocketeer,” featuring Ryan Tedder. Dirty Bass followed in 2012 with the Justin Bieber collaboration “Live My Life.”

Finding their own direction.

In a 2016 interview, they described learning the business through publicity internships, DJ work and Koreatown parties. Their name came from an early song about their LA upbringing. On Identity, they brought Asian and Western collaborators together, including Chanyeol, Jay Park, Tiffany, Tinashe and Macy Gray.

Building for other artists.

Kev Nish, Prohgress and DJ Virman also founded Transparent Arts. Their work now includes artist development and production alongside Far East Movement releases and performance clips. In February 2026, Transparent Arts partnered with Jay Park’s More Vision to expand its international business.
