Mini bio

How it started.

Mahesh trained in electronics and communications engineering, graduating in 2011 before moving into physics teaching. His Alison biography describes six years in classrooms before he joined Khan Academy as a physics video creator. On Udemy, he credits Walter Lewin’s YouTube lectures with helping his interest in physics grow.

From lessons to a wider audience.

DW traces his online work to revision videos made for his students. FloatHeadPhysics carries that teaching instinct into questions about light, time, atoms and gravity. His November 2023 explanation of why objects cannot reach light speed became his most watched video, with more than nine million views recorded by vidIQ in October 2026.

How he teaches.

Mahesh’s personal site puts experiments, demonstrations and inquiry at the centre of his approach. Alongside science lessons for Khan Academy, he shares teaching cartoons and runs sessions for educators on building inquiry into lessons. His own videos often start with a question he found unsatisfactorily explained, then work toward the intuition behind it.
