Mini bio
How it started.
Gabi studied international relations at Mount Holyoke and considered political reporting before fashion became her career. Online fashion communities helped her find other plus-size women who shared her interests. In 2008, she started a personal style blog to show the young, trend-led clothes she wanted to see on bodies like hers.
Finding her audience.
Her blog, originally called Young, Fat and Fabulous, helped open the door to MTV’s first Twitter Jockey competition, which she won in 2010. She later became InStyle’s first plus-size style editor. Her bikini photos and a reader gallery challenged the idea that a bikini belonged to only one body type, and her first Swimsuits For All collection followed in 2013.
Designing what was missing.
Gabi moved from sharing outfits to creating them. She co-founded Premme with Nicolette Mason in 2017, designed lingerie with Playful Promises and later made clothing with Fashion to Figure and swimwear with ELOQUII. Premme closed in 2019, but her design work continued. In 2024 she launched Villa Fresca, her own swim and resort wear brand.
