Mini bio
How it started.
Gino grew up in Torre del Greco, near Naples. His mother taught him to cook, and he began working in his grandfather’s restaurant at 11. He trained at Luigi de Medici catering college before moving to London.
From kitchens to television.
Early appearances on Good Food Live and Saturday Kitchen led to regular cooking slots. Winning I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2009 brought him to a wider audience, alongside his work on This Morning.
Taking fans around the table.
Gino’s Italian Escape began in 2013, pairing travel through Italy with recipes to cook at home. He later joined Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix for Road Trip, hosted Family Fortunes, and made a voice cameo in the UK version of Pixar’s Luca. His cookbooks include Italian Family Adventure and the 2024 Air Fryer Cookbook.
Recent context.
In February 2025, ITV News published allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour by Gino, which he firmly denied. Further allegations of bullying and intimidation followed in November; ITV News reported that he denied those allegations too and that ITV had commissioned no further programmes with him since its first investigation.
