Mini bio
How it started.
Born in Bogotá and raised across Africa and Europe, Haider entered Antwerp’s Academy of Fine Arts in 1994. An internship with John Galliano and work assisting former teacher Wim Neels came before the launch of the Haider Ackermann label in 2001.
Finding a voice.
Fluid draping became a signature alongside precise tailoring. Early work for Ruffo Research and the 2004 Swiss Textiles Award helped establish the label. The career later expanded into menswear, including a guest project at Pitti in 2010 and the creative direction of Berluti, announced in 2016.
Clothes and friendships.
Longstanding collaborations with Tilda Swinton and Timothée Chalamet have carried Haider’s work onto red carpets. In 2023, a guest couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier brought sharp tailoring and sculpted draping into the house’s ateliers.
The current chapter.
Canada Goose named Haider its first creative director in May 2024, followed by the Tom Ford appointment that year. Snow Goose gives the designer room to work with technical outerwear, while the first Tom Ford runway collection arrived in March 2025.
