Mini bio
How it started.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Turkey, Hasan studied political science and communications at Rutgers. A 2013 internship at The Young Turks led to a job in sales, then opportunities to fill in on camera. He developed The Breakdown in 2016, bringing political arguments to short videos for a younger audience.
Finding his format.
Hasan began streaming on Twitch in 2018 and left TYT in 2020 to focus on it. His streams mix news, socialist commentary, reactions, games, and conversation with chat. Election night in 2020 became a turning point: Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet ranked his coverage sixth among the YouTube and Twitch channels they measured.
Beyond the daily stream.
He expanded into podcasts with Fear& and cohosted Leftovers with Ethan Klein from 2021 to 2023. Interviews with politicians, including Bernie Sanders, sit alongside the more casual conversations fans know from his broadcasts. In 2025, TIME included him in its first TIME100 Creators list.
