How it started.
Helena grew up in Queens with Russian immigrant parents, studied at Brooklyn College and FIT, and worked in fashion. In 2010, a conversation with Keith, then her boyfriend, about hobbies prompted her to start Brooklyn Blonde. Putting outfits together was already a pleasure; the blog gave it a home.
From outfits to a career.
Before blogging full time, Helena worked in accessories sales, coordinating with design and production teams and merchandising showrooms. Her audience grew into a business, with Tiffany & Co. and David Yurman among the partnerships she named as proud moments in a 2015 interview.
What fans find now.
Her work has expanded from outfit documentation to skincare, beauty, shopping finds and returns, motherhood and reflections on the creator industry. Helena’s Substack carries that mix forward through personal essays, practical edits and Weekend Notes, with New York food and neighborhood discoveries woven in.
