Before the videos.
Humphrey studied finance at Loyola Marymount University and trained as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch, passing the Series 7 and 66 exams. He later worked in mobile gaming and ran an online custom map poster business. Those jobs gave him experience with both money and testing what people respond to.
Finding his audience.
He began trying YouTube in 2019, initially sending videos to friends who asked him money questions. Later that year, he set himself a challenge: post one TikTok a day for 30 days. He recalled reaching about 120,000 followers by the end of the month. During the pandemic, he kept posting and returned to YouTube.
Making money visible.
His explainers connect unfamiliar financial ideas to everyday things. A short-selling skit uses a borrowed iPhone, while longer videos explore car ownership, housing and beginner investing. He started Hump Days in June 2020 to cover business, finance and technology in plain language.
The next conversation.
In 2026, his YouTube channel reached two million subscribers. He also began publishing in-person episodes of The Humphrey Show, giving guests room to share their financial stories and numbers.
