Mini bio
How it started.
Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin met while studying in Amsterdam and began working together in 1986. Their partnership grew into a shared practice spanning fashion photography and art.
The breakthrough.
Early digital experiments made familiar bodies look strange. Their 1993 series Thank You Thighmaster and Final Fantasy challenged ideas about beauty. A 1994 editorial for The Face brought that approach into fashion and drew wider attention.
A shared visual world.
Their work moves between magazine portraits, fashion campaigns, exhibitions and music videos. You may know their images of Taylor Swift for TIME, or their videos for Lady Gaga and Rihanna. In 2026, Kunstmuseum Den Haag celebrated forty years of their creative partnership.
