Mini bio
How it started.
Jaclyn grew up on an Illinois farm and was homeschooled. While working as a self-taught makeup artist at MAC, clients encouraged them to put tutorials on YouTube. Those demonstrations became a full-time career and a place to share a love of makeup.
Finding an audience.
Jaclyn told Allure that an early smoky cat-eye tutorial took off after Kylie Jenner shared it on Tumblr. Detailed technique and celebrity-inspired looks became familiar parts of the channel.
From tutorials to products.
The 2015 BECCA collaboration produced Champagne Pop highlighter. The Morphe partnership followed with the 2017 Jaclyn Hill Palette and later The Vault collection. Jaclyn also launched the namesake Jaclyn Cosmetics brand in 2019 and jewelry brand Jaclyn Roxanne in November 2021.
A difficult chapter.
Jaclyn Cosmetics’ 2019 lipstick launch drew complaints about product quality. In a later Allure interview, Jaclyn discussed the failed launch and the work behind returning with a highlighter collection.
What fans find now.
The channel continues to mix full makeup routines with product favorites and personal updates. Recent work also includes podcast conversations and a Physicians Formula campaign revisiting the Butter Bronzer.
