Mini bio

How it started.

Jade describes herself as a physics graduate who never stopped learning physics. She created the Up and Atom YouTube channel in April 2016 and turned that continued curiosity into videos. Born to Engineer describes her route from studying applied physics to sharing science online after finding experimental work difficult.

What brings fans back.

Up and Atom follows questions that can seem intimidating at first: how infinity works, what computer programs can prove and how physics changes our picture of the universe. On Patreon, Jade explains that she wants people to enjoy subjects they might otherwise miss because they seem hard or unrelatable.

Beyond the explainers.

The Curiosity Box lists Up and Atom among its Inquisitive Fellowship creators. Jade has also joined Tom Scott’s Lateral podcast and visited ITER in France. Her ITER visit prompted a companion video from Practical Engineering after she suggested that Grady make one too.
