How it started.

Skin problems as a teenager led James to research ingredients and build a lasting interest in skincare. While working as an ASOS stylist and presenting YouTube videos, James found that viewers kept asking about skin. Those questions became the starting point for a dedicated skincare channel.

Finding an audience.

A focus on skincare helped James find a niche when few men were making videos devoted to it. By the October 2019 YesStyle interview, the channel had more than 380,000 subscribers. Korean skincare, routines and product reviews became central to the work.

Beyond the routine.

The channel now combines ingredient explainers with brand histories and commentary about beauty marketing. James’s channel biography cites a degree in Editorial & Advertising Photography as a foundation for examining manipulated beauty images. Alongside the solo videos, James hosts The Double Cleanse with twin Robert, a makeup artist. The show began in April 2020 and returned with W!ZARD Studios as a video podcast in December 2025.
