Mini bio

How it started.

Jessamyn first tried hot yoga as a teenager and disliked it. She returned during graduate school, then developed a home practice. Posting photos online began as a way to ask teachers for feedback; the response revealed how many people were hungry to see a larger body practicing yoga.

Making space.

That online practice grew into a teaching career. Jessamyn co-founded The Underbelly and now teaches yoga and meditation internationally. Her work makes room for different bodies and abilities, with self-acceptance running through her classes, writing and conversations about identity.

Beyond the poses.

Every Body Yoga combines her personal story with instructions for 50 poses and 10 home sequences. Yoke followed in 2021, using autobiographical essays to explore yoga beyond the mat, including imposter syndrome, race and the daily work of accepting yourself. Her newsletter, Satanic Baby Girl, continues that conversation through yoga, pleasure and everyday life.
