Mini bio
How it started.
Kate grew up around horse racing as the daughter of trainer Gai Waterhouse and bookmaker Rob Waterhouse. In a 2026 interview, she recalled dressing up beside her mother as she prepared for the races. She began reporting while studying Media and Communications, then moved into newspaper fashion editing.
From print to the screen.
Her Date with Kate column brought readers conversations with celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Cameron Diaz. After going freelance, she built katewaterhouse.com around fashion, beauty, lifestyle and interviews. Joining Fashion Bloggers in 2014 took that work onto reality television; she later became a Channel 7 Racing fashion and colour reporter in 2018.
Stories for young readers.
Kate’s first picture book, Sophia the Show Pony, appeared in 2022, followed by Gracie the Princess Pony in 2024 and Sophia and Gracie to the Rescue in 2025. Illustrator Sally Spratt brings the ponies’ fashion-filled world to life. Kate has said the first story drew on her childhood pony and her daughters.
What she’s doing now.
Alongside her style content and television work, Kate is Beauticate’s Style Editor. Her 2026 work includes wardrobe advice inspired by Beverly Hills and a place on the Oaks Day Grand Finals judging panel for Fashions on the Field.
