How it started.
Kelly Lund brought Loki home across the Rocky Mountains during a December 2012 blizzard. The official site describes Loki as a husky, arctic wolf and malamute mix, or low-content wolfdog.
Finding their people.
Kelly grew up on a campground in rural California and later worked as Denver’s outdoor recreation coordinator. Photographing Loki brought his interest in photography into focus. He started Loki’s Instagram in 2013 for fun, sharing travels across the western United States. Coverage by publishers helped their audience grow.
Adventures beyond Instagram.
Their friendship became the subject of outdoor films and Wild Together, Kelly’s 2018 book with Ally Coucke. In 2016 they appeared in a Mercedes-Benz USA campaign filmed around Crested Butte, with both a conventional film and a 360-degree experience.
The later chapters.
Kelly’s recent posts shared the quieter work of caring for an aging Loki alongside their outdoor projects. A memorial published on the account in October 2026 gave Loki’s dates as October 17, 2012 to September 30, 2026.
