Mini bio

Before the blog.

Malini began as a professional backup dancer before moving into digital media and radio. She worked with MTV India, became a radio jockey and programming director, and later led digital content at Channel V. Her Mumbai column gave her a place to write about the people and experiences she encountered.

Finding her own voice.

She started MissMalini.com in 2008 as a hobby. Radio helped her find early readers, followed by Twitter and Facebook. Her conversational coverage of Bollywood, fashion and lifestyle grew into a media business and reached television with MissMalini’s World on TLC in 2014.

Books and community.

Her memoir To the Moon arrived in 2018 with a foreword by Priyanka Chopra. Under the Influence followed in 2024, tackling trolling, body-shaming and healthier ways to live online. She also founded Girl Tribe as a space for women to connect and support one another.

The next chapter.

After selling MissMalini in 2021, she stepped down as creative director in June 2025. Her current work includes IF (Idea Factory), co-founded with Thomas Dawes, and Not Done Yet, a Times Entertainment interview series about changing direction and beginning again.
