Mini bio

How it started.

Born in Japan, Mariko modelled in Tokyo before moving to London at 18. Their agency biography dates the start of their blog to 2012, as a creative outlet alongside law. In a 2015 interview with Three Floor, Mariko recalled that the first photographs began when their boyfriend bought a camera and asked them to stand in front of it.

From Silk and Suits to Mariko Kuo.

The original blog was called Silk and Suits. By 2015, Mariko had taken over Three Floor’s Instagram for its SS16 London Fashion Week presentation. In a 2016 interview, they explained that relaunching under their own name gave the site room to grow and a clearer purpose: helping professional women express themselves through what they wear.

A wardrobe built around a working life.

Mariko’s legal career and content have grown together. Their workwear mixes tailoring with personal touches, an approach explored in Marie Claire’s 2025 Anatomy of a Wardrobe feature. Their agency lists past partnerships with Bvlgari, Chanel, Longchamp, L’Occitane and Tiffany & Co. In 2026, Mariko appeared in the launch roster of Marie Claire UK’s Masters contributing editors.

Beyond the outfit.

Interiors are another part of Mariko’s creative world. In an interview with Select-Works, they described their home’s Japandi aesthetic as a meeting of Scandinavian functionality and Japanese wabi sabi. They also spoke about finding antique furniture and collecting ceramics, including work by Noe Kuremoto.
