Mini bio

How it started.

Matt grew up in Ohio and tried comedy at a school talent show. In his 1883 interview, he recalled seeing Dane Cook at 14 after his mother won tickets on the radio. He began going to open mics at 15.

The clip that changed things.

After years of performing, Matt began posting clips on TikTok in 2022. He told 1883 that a video he nearly kept to himself reached 20 million views in two days that July. He favors crowd-work clips online so fans can still discover his written jokes at a live show.

Building his own stage.

Matt self-produced Only Fans for YouTube in 2021, followed by Matthew Steven Rife and Walking Red Flag in 2023. Netflix’s Natural Selection arrived that November, followed by Lucid in 2024 and the holiday crowd-work special Unwrapped in 2025.

Beyond the clips.

His television work includes Wild ’N Out and hosting MTV’s TRL reboot. His memoir, Your Mom’s Gonna Love Me, came out in December 2024. He also appears alongside Owen Wilson in the 2026 comedy Rolling Loud: The Movie.
