Mini bio

Finding her people.

Miriam found community and a creative outlet on YouTube in 2007. Her first Project for Awesome video came in 2010, filmed in her grandmother’s basement with her dad’s camera. She went on to build zentouro around climate explanations with more context and personality than a headline can hold.

Science meets video.

At Middlebury, she studied environmental subjects while working as a photographer and videographer, including filming dance performances. That combination carried into work for CBS News and The Verge, then writing and co-hosting PBS Digital Studios’ Hot Mess alongside Joe Hanson and Talia Buford.

A wider classroom.

Her work spans climate policy, environmental justice and eco-anxiety. She collaborated with ClimateAdam on a five-minute explanation of the IPCC’s 2023 synthesis report, and hosts the 31-episode Study Hall Sustainability course. Harvard C-CHANGE and Pique Action included her among their 2022 Climate Creators to Watch.

Research behind the camera.

Miriam completed her Columbia PhD in 2025, studying interactions between soil moisture and precipitation. Her official site now describes her work as a postdoctoral research scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, improving a tropical cyclone risk model.
