Mini bio
How it started.
Monroe grew up in Durham, North Carolina, and earned a doctorate in physical therapy at New York University. In 2010, she started Fashion Steele NYC as a creative outlet while working in healthcare. Her day job meant scrubs, so the blog gave her somewhere to share her fashion.
Building her own path.
Her audience grew around personal style, fashion-week coverage and candid writing. She later made blogging her full-time work and shared what she had learned through pitch templates and ebooks for other creators. In 2019, the fifth issue of her independent Steele Magazine brought the project into print, alongside its digital edition.
From outfits to a collection.
In 2020, Monroe and designer Sonjia Williams launched a six-piece Something By Sonjia collaboration. Their work continued with the Desert Oasis spring/summer collection in 2023. Her channels now bring fashion, travel, beauty and home life together, with New York City and Miami Beach as recurring settings.
