Mini bio
How it started.
Mumford & Sons formed in London in 2007, originally with Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Ted Dwane and Winston Marshall. They built an audience through small venues and their 2008 EP Love Your Ground, before Sigh No More introduced their harmonies, banjo and rising choruses to a much wider audience in 2009.
The songs that travelled.
“Little Lion Man” and “The Cave” became calling cards for the debut. “I Will Wait” followed on Babel in 2012, and that album won Album of the Year at the 2013 Grammys. Their performance with Bob Dylan and the Avett Brothers at the 2011 Grammys was another early turning point for American listeners.
Room to change.
Wilder Mind brought a more electric sound in 2015, followed by the wider musical palette of Delta in 2018. After Marshall left in 2021, Mumford, Lovett and Dwane continued as a trio. Rushmere, produced with Dave Cobb, arrived in March 2025; Prizefighter followed in February 2026 with Aaron Dessner and guests including Hozier, Chris Stapleton, Gracie Abrams and Gigi Perez.
