Mini bio

How it started.

Before the books, Noel worked in banking, property conveyancing and other financial-services jobs in Brisbane, and completed an accounting degree. Reading Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich helped inspire a goal to build a business and teach others about money.

The first book.

A self-development course in 1985 brought that teaching goal back into focus. Noel drafted the chapter headings for Making Money Made Simple on Christmas Eve. After publishers initially turned it down, Noel paid the publishing costs. Released in 1987, it became the book that established a much wider audience for Noel’s work.

Still explaining the everyday decisions.

Noel now writes about saving, superannuation, retirement and estate planning through books, columns and Noel News. The Making Money Made Simple podcast pairs Noel with broadcaster John Deeks for regular conversations about newsletter topics. The book series keeps growing through updated editions, including the 2026/2027 Super Made Simple.
