Before the videos.

Poppy trained through a chef apprenticeship at University College Birmingham while working at Purnell’s in Birmingham. She spent nearly a decade in professional kitchens before bringing those skills to home cooks online.

How Poppy Cooks started.

After losing her London kitchen job when the pandemic hit in March 2020, Poppy moved back home and started filming recipes for TikTok, inspired by her younger siblings. A McDonald’s-style hash brown went viral, and her potato recipes, including a Christmas countdown series, became her calling card.

From phone screen to bookshelf.

Her first cookbook, The Food You Need, followed in 2021. She went on to judge Young MasterChef and compete in House of Knives. By September 2026, her cookbook collection had reached six books, spanning air fryers, slow cookers, potatoes, one pot meals and batch cooking.
