Mini bio

How it started.

Rangan graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2001 and went on to work as a GP. A frightening seizure suffered by his baby son on holiday became a turning point, prompting him to look more closely at nutrition and the wider habits that shape health.

From the surgery to the screen.

BBC One’s Doctor in the House brought his approach to a wider audience in 2015. Families invited him into their homes to examine everyday routines and work towards changes they could keep up. His first book, The 4 Pillar Plan, followed in 2017, built around eating, sleeping, moving and relaxing.

A place for longer conversations.

He launched Feel Better, Live More in 2018. Its interviews give guests time to discuss health, relationships and behaviour in depth. Alongside the podcast, he has written six Sunday Times bestsellers and taken his Thrive show to live audiences.

Where he is now.

After 23 years seeing patients, Rangan stepped away from active clinical practice to focus on public education and teaching healthcare professionals. He is a Visiting Professor of Health Education and Communication at Chester Medical School and co-founded Do Health.
