How it started.

Originally from Boston, Raye first built an audience on Tumblr. Followers asking for her beauty secrets helped draw her into YouTube tutorials. In her Create & Cultivate interview, she recalled initially wanting to study fashion merchandising at FIT before falling in love with makeup.

Finding her audience.

Her mix of makeup lessons, hair how-tos, get-ready-with-me videos and humor became the heart of ItsMyRayeRaye. BH Cosmetics described her as one of the first Black beauty influencers to pass one million YouTube subscribers. The Shorty Awards later nominated her in its YouTube Guru category.

Creating products.

Raye’s collaborations include ColourPop’s StingRAYE and RAYEzor lip products, a BH Cosmetics eyeshadow, highlighter and contour palette with a brush set, and curly hair extensions with INSERT NAME HERE. Her recent videos continue the practical beauty lessons while making room for life with her daughter and her love of bowling.
