Mini bio
How it started.
Brian began Regular Car Reviews with a 2002 Toyota Echo review in January 2012. In a CarThrottle Q&A, he explained that he wanted something better than the rambling homemade car videos he had been watching. He and Nick met in graduate school; the 1995 Miata review brought their breakout in 2013.
Why the cars matter.
RCR mixes road tests with jokes, literary references, and questions about the people who buy and drive a car. Both creators have master’s degrees in English literature. Brian told The Daily Dot that their training helps them read a car alongside the culture and circumstances that shaped it.
Beyond the road test.
The channel also makes RCR Stories documentaries, Roman Report essays, and Race to the Bottom reviews. Nicholas Roman won the 2021 Automotive Heritage Awards’ Best Audio or Video Story grand prize for The Algar Ferrari Heist. Their Regular Friends Podcast makes room for car talk, automotive history, pop culture, and personal stories.
