Mini bio

How it started.

Reid studied symbolic systems at Stanford and philosophy at Oxford. Before becoming known for LinkedIn, they worked at Apple and Fujitsu, then started SocialNet in 1997. In an Academy of Achievement interview, Reid recalls learning how to finance a company while the consumer internet was still taking shape.

Building connections.

After serving as a founding board member and executive vice president at PayPal, Reid co-founded LinkedIn in 2003. They joined Greylock in 2009, bringing an interest in networks and how businesses grow.

Sharing the lessons.

Masters of Scale launched in May 2017 with a Brian Chesky interview. Possible followed in 2023, pairing Reid with Aria Finger for conversations about technology and the future. Their books range from Blitzscaling, written with Chris Yeh, to Impromptu, written with GPT-4, and Superagency, written with Greg Beato.

The next questions.

In January 2025, Reid and physician-scientist Siddhartha Mukherjee announced Manas AI, a company working on AI-assisted drug discovery. That interest in what technology can help people do also runs through Reid’s writing and podcast conversations.
