Mini bio
Before the label videos.
Revant grew up in Kolkata and studied finance and management at NYU Stern. Before his Wharton MBA, he worked in finance, helped lead the London food business Inito and wrote Selfienomics, a humorous guide to life for young adults.
Finding Food Pharmer.
His interest in nutrition grew while he was living in the US and reading ingredient lists during grocery trips. He became a certified health coach in 2015, later worked at McKinsey, and returned to India to focus on health literacy. An April 2023 video questioning Bournvita’s sugar content and marketing brought him wide attention, along with a legal notice from Mondelez.
Making label reading a habit.
Through Label Padhega India, he encourages people to look beyond the front of a packet and understand its ingredient list. His Sugar Board movement uses displays showing the sugar in familiar drinks to start conversations with schoolchildren. His own brand’s story also describes the Indian Protein School and a chaas distribution drive.
Building with his audience.
In 2025, Revant moved into food entrepreneurship with Only What’s Needed. The brand says it asks followers to help choose products and ingredients, puts nutrition information on the front of packs and publishes testing information. Alongside the business, he continues making food comparisons, lab visits and interviews, and runs Better for You, a website of food alternatives reviewed with nutrition experts and researchers.
