Mini bio
How it started.
Rob grew up in Kettering, Ohio, and built his life around skateboarding. In his interview with Jordan Harbinger, he recalls deciding at 12 that he would turn pro and move to California. By 16 he was a professional skateboarder. Neil Blender, who once gave a young Rob a skateboard at a contest, later drew the graphic for Rob’s first Alien Workshop pro board.
From skate videos to MTV.
Rob & Big brought Rob and his friend and bodyguard Christopher “Big Black” Boykin to MTV in 2006. Their friendship and everyday adventures became the heart of the show. Fantasy Factory followed in 2009, bringing fans into a Los Angeles warehouse where skateboarding, business ideas and elaborate stunts shared the floor. Ridiculousness arrived in 2011, with Rob hosting commentary on viral clips.
Building beyond the screen.
Rob founded Street League Skateboarding in 2010, creating a competition series for street skating. His work also reached animation: Wild Grinders debuted on Nicktoons in 2012, with Rob voicing Lil Rob and Gene. In 2016 he founded the venture studio Dyrdek Machine, and in 2021 he started the business podcast Build with Rob.
What he is making now.
Rob now presents himself as the CEO of Existence and founder of Time Creationism. His recent videos show how he records experiences and compares his intentions with the way he actually spends his time. Existence turns that approach into software, while his public work explores the broader philosophy. Its current site invites people to apply to join or enter the waitlist.
