Mini bio

How it started.

Born in South Korea and raised in Canada, Rose began posting Cheap Lazy Vegan videos in May 2015 while living in London. The aim was practical: share vegan ideas and show people how to make food without spending much money or time.

Finding an audience.

Rose started with daily food videos and thoughts on veganism. In a LiveKindly interview, Rose explained that the simple recipes were what connected with viewers. Easy dinners and beginner-friendly tofu guides became familiar parts of the channel.

From videos to a café.

Rose and mother Vera brought vegan Korean cooking to Calgary through SaVeg Café. In 2026, Rose announced the café would close at the end of April after eight years. Their cookbook, SaVeg Cafe: The Recipes, keeps its breakfast dishes, rice bowls, noodles and sauces available to home cooks.

Beyond the kitchen.

Rose also founded Lazy Vegan Travel, which hosts vegan group trips. Travel videos sit alongside the recipes, sharing what eating vegan can look like away from home.
