Seager co-authored research showing that short peptides can remain stable and fold into defined shapes in concentrated sulfuric acid. The findings explore possible chemistry in Venus’s clouds, without establishing that life exists there.
The University of Toronto named Seager its Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair in Planetary and Molecular Sensing Technologies. The announcement set October 1 as her official arrival at CITA as North Star Distinguished Professor.
On TED’s ReThinking podcast, Seager explored how astronomers find exoplanets, what might count as evidence of life, and how her childhood curiosity shaped her career.
