How it started.
Sean grew up in Baltimore with an early fascination for beauty. In a Grazia interview, they recalled exploring their grandmother’s creams and fragrances as a child. Adult acne at 21 led them to research ingredients and enroll in aesthetics school, turning a personal concern into a way to help others.
Finding an audience.
After working in fashion and beauty retail, Sean built an online platform around skincare education. Their focus included people of color who had been left out of many skincare conversations. Fenty Skin named Sean its first global ambassador in 2020; Dior Beauty later brought them into its skincare education work.
Making room for more.
Sean started a newsletter called Under The Skin in February 2025 and renamed it Objects of Obsession that December. Its wider brief brings together beauty, fashion, interiors, and personal essays. By July 2026, Sean was sharing YouTube vlogs and a skincare guide, and wrote that they were no longer attached to a brand.
