Mini bio

How it started.

Born in Jamshoro, Shazia made her singing debut in 1992 after her husband encouraged her to audition. Her Marwari song “Mara Udheta Pakhiyara Kadi Aao Na Maare Des” became an early favourite.

Learning the craft.

After her first folk-song appearance on Pakistan Television, she trained with Ustad Ferozudin. Further teachers included Ustad Niaz Hussain, Feroz Gul, Ustad Ghulam Hussain and Mai Soni, a daughter of Mai Bhagi.

Beyond the stage.

In March 2018 she sang outside the Karachi Press Club for World Water Day and called for protection of the Indus River from pollution.

A different chapter.

In October 2019 she told The Express Tribune she was leaving showbiz because of her religious beliefs. Later streaming dates document editions of her music, but do not establish that she resumed performing or made new recordings.
