Mini bio
How it started.
Roy began his recording career with Zindagi in 1995. Romantic pop songs such as “Teri Soorat”, “Saali” and “Kangna” became part of the catalogue fans know him for.
A change in the songs.
His 2008 album Qismat Apney Haath Mein brought social and political questions into the foreground. “Laga Reh” became one of his signature songs, using satire to question the status quo.
From concerts to classrooms.
Roy told Gulf News that fundraising for organisations including the Edhi Foundation helped inspire him to start his own organisation. Through Zindagi Trust, he works on government-school reform, teaching and child protection.
Taking fans along.
For Chal Parha, Roy travelled by motorcycle to explore education across Pakistan. His work beyond music also includes a 2017 appointment as UNODC National Goodwill Ambassador. In 2026, he added the Laga Reh Podcast, opening with a conversation with Malala Yousafzai.
