Steph grew up in Hong Kong and studied Film at NYU, alongside minors in Business and Child & Adolescent Mental Health. In a 2022 Glamour & Guide interview, Steph described pursuing directing and producing before TikTok took off, then leaving a film job to create content full time.

The first breakthrough.

Steph dates the first successful makeup TikTok to August 10, 2021. Posted while isolating in New York around university graduation, it used a makeup transition and editing skills learned through film. Encouraging comments helped turn the experiment into a new direction.

Finding a style.

Makeup transformations and tutorials grew into fashion editorials, brand work and fashion-week diaries. In interviews, Steph has described learning to appreciate Asian features and finding confidence through creative challenges. The work brings together an interest in performance, makeup and playful clothes.
