Mini bio

A broadcaster first.

Sunny grew up in an Army family, with travel and food woven into everyday life. After joining the Air Force in 1993, Sunny worked in broadcasting, including radio in Seoul, South Korea. Civilian radio followed, eventually leading to New York’s HOT 97 in 2001.

Cooking for friends became a career.

Meals for friends and music-industry colleagues grew into catering work. Sunny ran Sunny’s Delicious Dishes from 2003 to 2005 and appeared on Emeril Live in October 2005. Gotta Get It followed in 2007, then Cooking for Real and How’d That Get on My Plate? in 2008.

Food for real life.

Sunny’s 2013 debut cookbook, Sunny’s Kitchen, brings together family roots in the Carolinas, international influences and practical supermarket shortcuts. In January 2014, Sunny joined The Kitchen as a co-host. The series ended its original run in December 2025, after more than a decade together.

Still sharing the table.

Recent appearances on The Drew Barrymore Show bring together recipes, conversations at the news desk and visits beyond the studio, including a trip to the Atlanta set of Beyond the Gates.
