Mini bio
How it started.
Makó grew up in Lillafüred, Hungary. In their 2025 Models.com interview, they recalled experimenting with emo hairstyles and photographing the results in 2007, aged fifteen. Photography became the medium through which they could shape an entire scene.
A world built by hand.
Now based in Milan, Makó creates fashion portraits using handmade and recycled materials, with daylight central to the process. In their WePresent interview, they explained how a childhood full of crafts and classical languages helped form that approach. The finished photographs depend on a team making and arranging the physical details.
The house that travelled.
Their 2023 GQ Italia shoot with Willem Dafoe became a career milestone. The house-shaped headpiece drew on a childhood costume discovered in family photographs. Rather than follow a straightforward suit portrait brief, Makó brought a personal memory into the frame.
Beyond the frame.
In 2026, Makó brought their constructed worlds into New York with Bauhaus Ballet, their first solo exhibition. The show drew on Hungarian folklore and childhood memories, while magazine commissions included Cardi B, Olivia Rodrigo and Jenna Ortega. The same year, they joined the BoF 500 Creative Class.
