Mini bio

Behind the little glasses.

Venjent is the musical project of London artist Vincent Welch. Everyday noises become the starting points for drum and bass remixes, while original songs explore love, gratitude and self-worth. “Open the Door” and “Create Machines” helped introduce that approach to a wider audience.

From bands to bass.

In a UKF interview, Venjent traced their roots to drumming in bands, including the Sony-signed Black Futures, later renamed Never Not Nothing. During COVID, the band split and Venjent focused on the drum and bass they were already making. Funny videos became a way to share the music and develop a style of their own.

Songs with a purpose.

Venjent told EDM Cave that tracks can begin with a vocal idea recorded into voice notes, a song played on guitar or piano, or an internet video transformed into music. Self-love runs through the work. On Bandcamp, they describe Did I Forget Something? as a record made while reconnecting with their love of making music.

Beyond the remixes.

Their earlier work includes contributions to The Prodigy’s The Day Is My Enemy and co-composing the 2020 film The Owners. Venjent has also taken the music into a full-band setting, including a sold-out show at London’s Village Underground.
