Mini bio
How it started.
Raised in Orange County, LLusion heard everything from new wave to East Coast rap through their dad. Discovering Nujabes opened up instrumental music as something to listen to in its own right. LLusion began sampling instrumental passages from old records in their collection.
Finding an audience.
Lo-fi and funk remixes turned familiar pop and rap tracks into something fans could hear differently. Reworks of Don Toliver’s “No Idea” and Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” helped define the channel, while production breakdowns let listeners see how the music came together. That online following led to a deal with Republic Records.
Making their own music.
Original collaborations include “walk but in a garden” with mxmtoon and “After the Tone” with UPSAHL. The eight-track BUFFET arrived in November 2021. LLusion later showed Splice how the UPSAHL collaboration came together through remote sessions.
A shared creative world.
Six works closely with LLusion on artwork, branding and content strategy. Together they created the Six & LLusion podcast. More recent channel uploads include full interviews with Substantial, Mo Beats, Senseless Optimism and The Kount.
