Mini bio
How it started.
Before makeup, Violette was drawn to painting and fashion design. In her ELLE Australia interview, she traced the turning point to friends asking her to paint their faces with glitter for a costume party. Makeup brought the two interests together. She taught herself, using her knowledge of pigments to mix colors and make products when her budget was small.
Finding her audience.
Violette moved to the United States in 2015 and built a career across editorial makeup and beauty houses. She also opened her world to viewers on YouTube. Fans came to know her through relaxed tutorials filmed in everyday places, including cafés and cars, where a bold eye or a red lip felt within reach.
From artist to founder.
After working with Dior and serving as Estée Lauder’s global beauty director, she launched VIOLETTE_FR in 2021 and became Guerlain’s creative director of makeup that year. Her own line spans color cosmetics, skincare, haircare and fragrance. She develops products around the textures and colors she wants to use herself, with Bisou Balm and Boum-Boum Milk becoming signature formulas.

- Her signature blue has its own name, Dieu Bleu. She wrote about finally bringing it to Yeux Paint after years of using it in her creative work.
