Mini bio
How it started.
Born in Hong Kong, Wil moved to Ontario as a young child. Music came before cooking: Wil studied violin at university, trained as a teacher and later opened a music school. Photography and filmmaking became another career along the way.
From plant milk to cooking videos.
Yeung Man Cooking began as recipe videos for customers of Wil’s coconut and almond milk business. The food business eventually closed, but the channel stayed. When the pandemic interrupted photography work and a restaurant job, Wil put that time into two cooking episodes a week. By March 2021, the channel had passed 300,000 subscribers.
Cooking together.
The show focuses on plant-based food, while Wil describes a personal diet that is predominantly plant-based rather than vegan. The cookbooks carry that food-first approach onto the page, with Wil’s own recipes and photography. The fourth book, Dining in with Wil, arrived in 2024.
