Mini bio
How it started.
Xulfi began with the underground band Call before finding a wider audience with Entity Paradigm alongside Fawad Khan and Ahmed Ali Butt. At FAST-NU, he led the music society and met the musicians who became Paradigm. A collaboration with Butt’s band Entity led to the merged group and a Pepsi Battle of the Bands appearance.
Learning to record.
An injury in 2000 left him bedridden for months. With his computer beside him, he made an instrumental album called The Lifeless Journey under the name Silence. Later, he set up a small studio in his mother’s clinic, where he recorded Jal’s Aadat. Those experiences helped turn his attention toward producing other artists.
Making room for new voices.
Nescafé Basement began in 2012 with a focus on emerging musicians. He went on to produce Coke Studio seasons 14 and 15. On “Pasoori,” he shared composition duties with Ali Sethi and production duties with Abdullah Siddiqui; the recording paired Sethi with Shae Gill.
A shared home for music.
Humnava brings artists from Pakistan and abroad together to live and record in Hunza. Xulfi curates it with Sherry Khattak, while Muhammad Ibrahim serves as executive producer. The first season connects regional singers and instrumentalists with collaborators from Algeria, Zambia, Germany and France.
