Mini bio
How it started.
Born in Forlì in 1965, Alessandro began working in fashion in the 1990s, first managing a boutique and then working in sales. Their showroom business developed alongside a knack for spotting emerging labels, including Dondup, Jucca and Forte-Forte.
The clothes came first.
In Vogue’s interview, Alessandro remembers hunting for clothes at Bologna’s Montagnola market when designer pieces were out of reach. Learning to recognise fabrics, origins and quality became a lasting habit. Street-style photographs by Scott Schuman later brought their personal wardrobe to a wider online audience.
An archive you can wear.
Fortela grows from that collection of military clothing, workwear and vintage tailoring, with pieces made in Italy and Japan. Alessandro’s wider brand-building story also includes AS65 and Atlantic Stars, while Brutti Anatroccoli brings a shared love of overlooked watches together with Carlo Biagioli.
Putting the story on paper.
The Squarzi Archive opens up the vintage collection through a book by Andrea Ventura, Mirko Di Giovanni and David Petrini. In October 2026, Alessandro’s memoir La mia strada, written with Ilaria Spadaccini, added the personal story behind the business and the wardrobe.
