Mini bio
How it started.
Before French Guy Cooking, Alex ran a small advertising and social media agency in Paris. On Patreon, Alex recalls leaving that business, moving into a smaller home and starting a YouTube channel to bring together a love of food and making things.
Finding an audience.
The channel began in 2013. A turning point came through Jamie Oliver’s search for a new YouTube cook: Alex reached the final with a Paris-Bangkok stew and joined Oliver’s Food Tube network. The early opportunity helped introduce Alex’s relaxed approach to a wider audience.
Following the question.
Alex’s videos follow the work behind a dish, including failed attempts. An omelette experiment earned a video response from Jacques Pépin. The same curiosity runs through ramen projects, homemade equipment and journeys to learn from other cooks.
Beyond the videos.
The debut cookbook, Just a French Guy Cooking, arrived in September 2018 with a foreword by Jamie Oliver. Alex also co-hosts Food, But We Digress with editor Joshua and contributes to Milk Street Radio. SALUT brings that interest in kitchen equipment into a cookware brand.
A newer direction.
In public LinkedIn updates, Alex has also described advising brands on creative direction and long-form content, opening additional collaborations for 2026 and offering brand storytelling services through Malt.
