Mini bio

How it started.

After studying business at Ithaca College, Amber trained in baking and pastry at The Culinary Institute of America. Decorating gave her a way to bring art and baking together. A grand prize in a Wilton cake decorating contest in 2008 led to a Master Course and then a decorating job with the company.

Taking the leap.

While working at Wilton, she practiced cookie decorating during nights and weekends in her Chicago apartment. In April 2011, she returned to New York to turn SweetAmbs into her full-time work. Her online tutorials grew into a teaching career, and Forbes named her a top food influencer in 2017.

Sharing the craft.

Her books Cookie Art and Cookie Canvas bring her recipes, templates, and decorating techniques together. Through the Cookie Art Club, she shares video lessons and individual decorating advice. Her recent projects range from pressed-flower cookies to edible trinket boxes and Halloween designs made with natural food coloring.
